History

Starkwall was always disputed between the County of Urnst and Nyrond. It marks the end of the Stone Road and Elone's Wall. The watchtower around which the city was built was held by Nyrond for a long time. Until Emperor Sewardnt gave it to the County to sign the Non-Aggression Treaty. The city was originally an outpost manned by militias patrolling the Artonsamay River. It has grown steadily over the years from a simple watch tower to an important trade center. The palissade that was erected many years ago was recently replaced by a stone wall.

Starkwall's slaughterhouses, the major industry, gives off a terrible stench that can be perceived throughout the town.

The Lord of the East maintains a Nyrond border defense headquarter in Starkwall.

Throughout its history, Starkwall has been the target of raids by hobgoblins and bandit from across the Artonsamay. They come to the area in search of booty and slaves. Because of this constant threat, many farmers have moved away from the fertile lands around the Artonsamay.

Current situation

The troops stationned here performed their duty with remarkable efficiency. Baron Duncombe tries to keep the riverside better defended so that the hobgoblins and bandits find that the Nyrondese coast is easier to pick on.

The Non-Aggression Treaty of 595CY gave complete control of Starkwall and the watchtower to the County. The County maintains a strong military presence in Starkwall

However, because of the County's unwillingness to return the lands, tensions are running high between the two countries.
